Japanese haiku is awesome. It is so because you are challenged to produce a piece of beauty within limited (5-7-5) syllables. I am not sure but it is possible that an acute awareness of limited resources throughout the centuries led Japanese to economize, and this 'economizing' in their daily lives somehow led to limited use of words in the construction of haiku.

かぜにきえ
とどかぬあいは
ひとしれず

せみのこえ
にぎわうなつに
まうこころ

ひとなつの
せみのいのちは
はかなくも

ゆきふかく
いろあせてゆく
ゆめのあと

せみしぐれ
ビルのたにまに
なきひびく

おともなく
ひがまたのぼり
あさがくる

さきしれず
あなたとあゆむ
まよいみち

あざやかに
よぞらいろどる
なつのはな

うみをこえ
こいしきひとを
あんじます

ときがたち
ひとのこころは
うつりゆく

なつやすみ
どこにいちゃったか
あとはなつ
